Leicester City news round-up including Harry Souttar update & Enzo Maresca on former side

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be eyeing some redemption this weekend when Leicester City head to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Van Nistelrooy’s record makes for grim reading, as Leicester have taken seven points from a possible 42 under his guidance.

But despite failing to win 11 of their last 12 matches, the Foxes remain in the fight for survival, only six points behind 17th place Wolves.

The biggest problem is that supporters can’t see where the next point is coming from – never mind win – as Leicester clash with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle, Brighton and Arsenal in their next six.

Ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge, here’s the latest Leicester City News.

Souttar, who Leicester signed for £15 million in January 2023, has played a crucial role in the Blades’ battle for automatic promotion.

Leicester fans were delighted when Steve Cooper was sacked in November as they never saw him as the ideal fit for the job.

But the Welshman would have arguably done a better job than Van Nistelrooy has done and has prior experience of keeping Nottingham Forest in the league.

Remarkably, Cooper topped the Premier League for a key statistic, making Leicester the best team in the Premier League when it came to their goal-scoring substitutes.

Enzo Maresca masterminded a Championship title win for Leicester City last term, and the Italian tactician created a special bond with the players.

Since leaving for Chelsea in the summer, he’s often asked about his time at the King Power Stadium, and he normally has positive things to say.

In Friday’s press conference, Maresca revealed he’s still close with the Leicester players after their fantastic campaign.
