At the start of this year, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Igor Julio suffered a hamstring injury in their 1-1 league draw against Arsenal.
On January 14th, Fabian Hürzeler confirmed the Brazilian underwent surgery and will be out for rest of the season.
Fast forward to March and UOL brings the latest on the centre-back’s efforts to regain full fitness.
The 27-year-old has picked up an injury similar to the one suffered by São Paulo’s Pablo Maia in 2024.
Maia injured the ‘semitendinosus and biceps femoris tendons’ last April and was sidelined for the rest of that year. He returned to the pitch and made nine appearances this year.
Since Maia’s recovery was successful, Igor’s camp decided to opt for his rehabilitation at the Brazilian’s club’s facilities at CT da Barra Funda.
UOL state the Brighton man contacted São Paulo to work on his rehabilitation for his ‘rare injury’. The contacts were established through a physiotherapist known to Igor.
The report further adds Igor consulted doctor Moisés Cohen, who treats and carries out surgeries on São Paulo’s players.
São Paulo have already given permission to the Brighton defender, who has recently used their facilities.
