Arsenal in double team news hint for Man Utd as Mikel Arteta makes'important'admission

Arsenal travel to Manchester United on Sunday as they look to keep their faint Premier League title challenge alive.

Mikel Arteta's side are set to make it a hattrick of runners-up finishes in the top-flight having also finished second in both of the previous two campaigns. Arsenal are currently 16 points behind league leaders Liverpool but can reduce that gap to 13 if they secure all three points at Old Trafford this weekend.

The Gunners thrashed PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in midweek and will be confident of winning at a struggling United team. The Red Devils have won just nine matches in the league so far in 2024/25, their lowest total at this stage of a campaign in over 30 years.

And several Arsenal players have hinted they will feature against Ruben Amorim's side. Jorginho and Raheem Sterling are among the players who have posted pre-match graphics on their Instagram stories.

Historically, players who share the graphics have tended to be involved in the match. The team news hints are also more likely to be true, considering Arsenal's injury woes under Arteta.

Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are out for the season after having to undergo knee surgery.Kai Havertz, meanwhile, will also not return until pre-season after undergoing surgery on his hamstring.

The injuries mean that Arsenal have 17 senior players available for selection for the game versus United. As per Premier League rules, a club is allowed to name a squad of 20 players for a Premier League match.

"Obviously, we lost very important wingers that provided a lot for us in that final third," Arteta said at his pre-match match conference when asked how he is adapting.

"We're looking to explore other options as well. The team has this capacity to adapt.

"A lot of players with great football intelligence as well to understand when to move and why. Especially, they do certain things. They certainly float. We saw actions and combinations that are very difficult to defend."
