Ruben Amorim has revealed that Manchester United players' 'scars' are too deep in order to improve the situation at the club in the future.
The Red Devils endure one of the worst campaigns in their history, with the club sitting in 15th place in the Premier League, with only 33 points.
United are currently 16 points above Ipswich Town, which are placed in the relegation zone, and 37 behind the league leaders, Liverpool.
Ruben Amorim's side were knocked out of both the FA Cup and the Carabao cup following their defeats by Fulham and Tottenham, respectively.
Furthermore, in an interview with Sky Sports on Sunday, the Portuguese admitted the challenge of turning things around at Old Trafford following several disappointing months under the new manager.
'To tell you the truth, I feel sometimes there are scars in our team, in our players,' said the 40-year-old specialist.

The Portuguese manager has highlighted that this issue complicates any quick fixes
The Red Devils are currently 15th in the Premier League table, and are out of the FA Cup and Carabao cup following defeats by Fulham and Tottenham
'They are good players, but they (scars) are so deep, they are so long here that is hard to change things in one moment.
Amorim arrived at Old Trafford in November of last year following lengthy negotiations over his departure from Sporting Lisbon, which concluded with United paying the £8.3million release clause to secure the deal.
The 40-year-old was among the most hunted young managers on the market after he enjoyed four-and-a-half successful years in Portugal.
Amorim ended Sporting's 19-year title drought in his first full season when he guided the club to a double gold - Taca da Liga and the Primeira Liga.
Now, the Portuguese has a 12-month contract extension with the Red Devils on top of his two-and-a-half-season deal.
'Some players had one coach, and then comes a new coach, new hope, new momentum and then we go to the same place,' he added.
'Imagine this for any person, in any job. Imagine this as a player, with all the media and social media. So it's really hard to turn things around just like that.'
Amorim was brought in to replace former United manager Erik ten Hag following the Dutchman's two-and-a-half years at the club.

However, since then, United's problems have only deepened, and their only hope for the season is winning the Europa League title
In his last full-term, the Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League, with a negative goal difference, but managed to secure the Carabao cup trophy at the end of the season against rivals Manchester City.
The Dutch manager was given the opportunity to continue working at the beginning of the next campaign after a lengthy board review.
However, he saw his exit after results did not improve, with United winning just three of their opening nine league fixtures.
Amorim's only realistic hope is the Europa League triumph, where the Red Devils finished in third place in the group stage.
They started their knockout phase with a tough trip to San Sebastian against Real Sociedad in the last 16.
The game at Real Arena concluded with 1-1 on the scoresheets after Mikel Oyarzabal equalised to Joshua Zirzkee's striker, with both goals occurring in the second half.
Amorim's men are set for a home match against Arsenal on Sunday, followed by the second tie against Sociedad on Thursday.
