Manchester United have endured a challenging campaign after facing several issues on and off the field over the past few months.
Erik ten Hag, who spent just over two years in the dugout at Old Trafford, was replaced as manager by Ruben Amorim in November following a poor start to the season.
However, the Portuguese boss has failed to turn Man United’s fortunes around, with his side currently sitting 15th in the Premier League table after 27 matches.
There is still a chance they could qualify for the Champions League this season if they can win the Europa League.
United drew 1-1 with Real Sociedad on Thursday (6 March), with the second leg taking place at Old Trafford on 13 March for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Telegraph reported on 3 March the Manchester giants are budgeting for qualifying for the Europa League for the next four years rather than the Champions League.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the club could be facing a “big issue” next season if they fail to qualify for the Europa League.
United sent a letter to fan groups in January warning them the club are at risk of breaking the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), with top-flight sides only permitted to make £105million of losses over a rolling three-year period.
Their latest accounts for 2023-24 revealed they generated a club-record revenue of £661.8million despite recording a net loss of £113.2million.

Man United could land ‘£20m’ windfall
Borson revealed United could earn up to £20million from the Europa League this season.
He told Football Insider: “I think people got a bit confused as to what they’re saying.
“It’s a budgeting point as opposed to their expectation. Their expectation is not to be a Europa League team. Actually, the reality is that next season they may not even be a Europa League team.
“Clearly, they’ve got this difficult situation right now where they could win the Europa League and be in the Champions League.
“In terms of the Europa League, they can still make it, but it’s going to be pretty difficult to get anything more than the Conference League if they don’t win the Europa League.
“On that basis, they won’t even have the Europa League, which is a big issue because, even though it’s not worth anywhere near the Champions League, for United it’ll still probably be worth £15-20million this season.”

Football Insider revealed on 5 March Amorim told friends he regrets taking the United job following his tough start to life at Old Trafford.
The 40-year-old feels he should have waited until this summer and should not have succumbed to the “now-or-never” ultimatum issued to him by United chiefs.
