Chelsea vs Leicester LIVE: Premier League updates, latest team news, TV, prediction

LIVE: Chelsea host Leicester at Stamford Bridge

With Manchester City falling to defeat against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea can take full advantage and reclaim fourth place in the Premier League table with victory over Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca has set his side a target of qualifying for next season's Champions League and will know the importance of avoiding a slip-up this afternoon especially with London derbies against Arsenal and Tottenham on the horizon.

The Blues thumped Southampton 4-0 last time out in the league and host the Foxes on the back of a 2-1 win over Copenhagen in the Conference League three days ago. Several key players are expected to earn recalls to the starting lineup after being rested in midweek, but Moises Caicedo is walking the disciplinary tight-rope as a booking today will mean he has to serve a two-match Premier League suspension.

Leicester currently sit second from bottom, six points from safety and have lost their last four games in a row without scoring. Any positive result in west London for Ruud van Nistelrooy's side would be a major shock. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Malik Ouzia at Stamford Bridge!

Reece James hoping for Thomas Tuchel reunion

Chelsea captain Reece James has revealed he has spoken to Thomas Tuchel about a potential England recall, as the new manager prepares to name his first Three Lions squad.

Tuchel, who officially took charge of England at the start of the year, is due to announce his first raft of call-ups next week ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, having established a 55-man longlist.

He has held talks with a number of contenders in recent months, including many of those who were key figures under Gareth Southgate and others, like Arsenal’s Ben White and Tottenham’s James Maddison, who have not featured for some time.

Maresca ready to risk Caicedo

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says he has no choice but to risk Moises Caicedo against Leicester this afternoon - even though he will miss derbies against Arsenal and Tottenham if he is booked.

Caicedo has been among the Blues’ most reliable performers this season and has started all 27 of their Premier League games.

However, the 23-year-old has picked up nine yellow cards in that time and will have to serve a two-game ban should he collect a 10th in any of the next five games.

Standard Sport prediction

It remains difficult to definitively claim Chelsea are over their slump, given the quality of opposition they have faced of late.

However, Leicester are in such dire form that it’s difficult to see anything over than a Blues victory.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea are weighing up a return for Romeo Lavia this afternoon as Leicester visit in the Premier League.

Lavia has been struggling since mid-December with a hamstring problem and his absence has coincided with Chelsea’s mid-season dip in form.

After missing five Premier League matches, the midfielder briefly returned to play against Bournemouth and then Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup in January, but has not been seen since.

Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the Belgian has returned to training this week, but he is not fit to start against Leicester.
