'Trouble brewing' over what Angus Kinnear is planning to do ahead of Everton move from Leeds -…

Everton fans can expect some big changes at the club this year.

It now looks all but certain that Everton will be in the Premier League once again next season, and there can now be a focus on planning for 2025/26.

Everton will head into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, after David Moyes was chosen as Sean Dyche’s successor in early January.

That was the first big decision The Friedkin Group made.

A new director of football is on the cards as Kevin Thelwell leaving, with Everton interested in Dan Ashworth.

It’s also been claimed The Friedkin Group could replace Thelwell with Rob Newman at Everton.

And then, of course, there is to be a new CEO. Everton were eyeing Angus Kinnear, who will now come in from Leeds United – and he could do something that may upset his current employers.

Because he is actually planning to take some of his Leeds backroom team with him to Everton.

Nixon reports that there is ‘trouble brewing’, with Kinnear set to cause disruption ahead of a big season for Leeds in 2025/26.

Leeds could potentially be in the Premier League next season.

But even if they fall short in their promotion bid this season, 2025/26 will still be a big campaign for them, so losing multiple executives would be far from ideal.

It’s stated that Kinnear could take ‘two or three key allies’ with him to Bramley-Moore Dock.

Kevin Thelwell to continue overseeing at Everton until Angus Kinnear arrives

Everton have confirmed that Kinnear will take up his CEO role from June 1.

Until he arrives, the club say that Thelwell ‘will continue to lead the sporting department until the new CEO is in place’. He will then leave when his contract expires in the summer.

Everton will instigate ‘a wider sporting leadership team’ once Thelwell has departed.

Everton have stated that planning is already underway ahead of the summer, and it’s previously been reported that David Moyes will receive a ‘healthy’ transfer budget.
