Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been told he's making the correct decisions at Manchester United - despite his cost cutting being 'difficult to stomach'

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has showed his brutal side since his acquisition of Manchester United.
The INEOS head honcho has been cutting costs left, right and centre as he looks to avoid falling foul of proft and sustainability rules. And Sir Jim has now been told he's doing the right thing by slashing the budget.
"“It's such a difficult situation at United," Dr Rob Wilson, football finance expert and Director of Executive Education at University Campus of Football Business, told Grosvenor Sport.
"You've got poor sporting performance and you have had poor decisions that are still costing the club a significant amount of money.
“The pursuit of Dan Ashworth, the compensation paid, the salary, and then he lasts 169 days and they've got to pay off his contract.

“All of that money that's going out through what fans and analysts will look at as poor decision making is then coupled with the streamlining of the business, which by the way had to happen.
“United had probably 30% more workers than any other Premier League team, but they're not 30% better. So you've got to look at two things. One is the structure right? Probably not. Two, are the personnel right? Possibly not.
“So if you take the two things, the sporting and the non-sporting side as independent parts of the equation.
"Then all of the things that happening off the field, the staff redundancies, closing the canteen, the free fruit instead of free lunch, is not great for those involved in it, but is probably the right decision for the long-term interest of Manchester United as a commodity.
“What makes it really difficult to stomach is how poor the sporting performance is."

The Red Devils are back in action on Sunday, when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford.
