Rangers told what they can 'forget about' with Celtic if San Francisco 49ers takeover fails

Rangers are doing everything they can to try and get close to Celtic.

It has been pure dominance from Celtic, not just during this campaign, but for over a decade now and there are no signs of stopping.

Celtic are 16 points clear at the top of the Premiership table, with the League Cup already in hand and hoping to defend their Scottish Cup crown also.

Meanwhile, Rangers watch on with that same old feeling of being defenceless because they can do nothing but Celtic become Scotland’s most decorated club.

Things have become so bad at Ibrox that Rangers have appointed Barry Ferguson on an interim basis until the end of the campaign and his homecoming was delightfully ruined by Motherwell.

But, in the background, the Gers are doing everything they can to turn things around, including talk of a possible takeover.

Rangers told what Celtic will do if the San Francisco 49ers fail with takeover

It has been well-documented that the San Francisco 49ers are trying to buy Rangers and end their misery of being Scotland’s second-best club.

MORE CELTIC STORIES

The 49ers also have a stake in Championship club Leeds United, who are sitting top of England’s second-tier and heading back to the Premier League.

Ross McCormack has repped both clubs and gave an insight into what the 49ers are like, as he warned that money won’t be splashed like desperate Rangers fans think it will.

The former striker also made it clear that if the takeover doesn’t happen, then Rangers can ‘forget about’ winning the league for a few more years yet, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

“What I will say is, Rangers fans who think that the 49ers enterprise are going to come in and splash the cash right away,” said McCormack. “Endless war chest. Whatever you want to call it.

“It’s not going to happen. They didn’t do it at Leeds. They won’t be doing it here. Everything they do is very calculated.

“This for me is paramount. This is more important than who they get in as manager from now until the end of the season. That’s sort of a little caretaker spell.

“This takeover is what helps Rangers get them back to where they were a few years ago. Where most Rangers fans believe that they deserve to be. This is the only way that they get close to Celtic.

“If this doesn’t happen, then you can forget about the league again for the next couple of years and getting closer to Celtic. This is the only way they get close to Celtic.”

Celtic’s dominance in Scotland post-2010

This isn’t a case of being the absolute best for a few years, but over a decade and counting.

As John Hartson put it, respect needs to be put on Celtic’s name because, whoever has been in the dugout, time and time again, the trophies have been delivered.

12x Scottish Premiership champions since 2010 alone

8x Scottish Cup since 2010

8x Scottish League Cup since 2010

And you can bet your bottom dollar that more is to come, especially during these final few months of the campaign.

The Treble is on for Celtic, as Rodgers has won more Trebles in Glasgow than Rangers have league titles in the last decade.
