There will certainly be a lot for Samuel Onyekachukwu to reflect upon when he assesses the events of this week.
On Monday night the centre-back ticked off a significant milestone as he made his debut for Arsenal at U21 level in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
Onyekachukwu started the game at centre-back alongside his U18 team-mate Brayden Clarke and gave a good account of himself as he made some important interventions and also looked composed in possession.
Yesterday Onyekachukwu found himself back involved with the U18s for the north London derby away to Tottenham but the game didn’t go to plan.
Arsenal ended up losing 6-4 and Onyekachukwu was sent off for a challenge in the closing stages.
The events that Onyekachukwu has experienced this week encapsulate the highs and lows of football and will certainly be useful for his future development.
Onyekachukwu will be pleased with his overall progress this campaign as he has established himself as a key player for the U18s while still a first year scholar and he was also called up in the UEFA Youth League.
The youngster will hope to receive another callup to the U21 squad before the end of the season and as things stand he appears on track to eventually earn a professional contract.
