Pittsburgh Steelers tackle expected to break the bank in free agency

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. is expected to receive a big payday on the open market. The free-agent tackle who is unlikely to return to the Steelers is now at the top of the free-agent list after Ronnie Stanley and Alaric Jackson returned to the Ravens and Rams.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated believes that Moore and Cam Robinson, the other top tackle on the market, could receive deals that would pay them up to $15 million per season. There is a lot of demand for offensive tackles, but with a weak draft class and too many holes to fill across the league, guys like Moore and Robinson are set to get paid.

Moore was a four-year starter for the Steelers. Drafted out of Texas A&M in the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore started 66 games for the Steelers since coming into the league, developing into the player he is now.

He played his best football in the first half of the 2024 season, but finished the year allowing a league-high 12 sacks after a tough stretch in the back half of the year.

With investment in Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu, it is time for the young players to take over that role in the Steelers' offense. Moore should still get a nice penny in free agency and find another team willing to make him a starter. That could even be a team like the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been floated as a destination for him.
