Former Miami Hurricanes edge rusher Greg Rousseau was thought of so highly by the Buffalo Bills since they made him their first round selection in 2021.
After four years and 25 sacks in total, Rousseau felt that it was only right to look for ways to stay in the city that welcomed him all those years ago. The 24-year-old signed a four-year, $80 million extension with the Bills on Saturday that paid him on par with some of the other top defensive linemen in the league.
And it's why he always felt staying with the Bills was a no-brainer.
"My heart's been here since 2021, and I didn't really want to go anywhere else," Rousseau explained. "We have a lot of great guys on our team, on our defense, on our defensive line, we're real tight. Just excited to get back to dudes like Ed (Oliver), DQ (DaQuan Jones), A.J. (Epenesa). I mean, it's a blessing to be around guys like that. It's not like that everywhere, so I was just ready to get back."
Not all of Rousseau's career has been superb. While he did lead the team in sacks with eight last year, he has yet to have a truly dominant, Pro-Bowl caliber season. It's something the veteran is looking to accomplish next season.

Especially since the team has gone out of their way to pay him handsomely for the potential that he could bring to the table.
"With every single year I feel I've gotten better and the game has slowed down just a little bit," Rousseau shared. "So I'm just gonna keep on trying to get better day in and day out, year in and year out, and see how far I can take it...I know I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm excited to try to reach that pinnacle and mountain top of what I can become as a player in the future."
Rousseau may be the latest member of the Bills to be extended but he's aware he still has plenty left to prove.
