Broncos Insider Compares Bo Nix With Two Quarterbacks

The Denver Broncos have found the combination missing in the Mile High City since 1998.

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix "is a franchise quarterback, someone capable of winning a Super Bowl someday," as Denver Post writer and Broncos insider Troy Renck wrote.

Renck also noted that Nix fulfills two areas the Broncos have desperately searched for since John Elway's retirement in 1998. This is despite all the naysayers when the Broncos selected Nix out of Oregon.

"Here in Denver, he ran like Tim Tebow and, over the last 12 games, threw like Peyton Manning, completing 68.5% of his passes," Renck wrote.

Tebow's running in 2011 allowed the Broncos to win tight games and reach the playoffs, but his unorthodox passing style didn't earn him a spot in Denver.

Manning came to the Broncos late in his career and had a career year passing in 2013, but it was the Broncos' defense carrying the team in the Super Bowl-winning 2015 season before Manning rode off in the sunset for retirement.

Now, Denver have Nix, who can do both, as Elway did well throughout his career. The Broncos could keep the 25-year-old quarterback for many years to come. Renck doesn't see the ceiling for Nix that so many experts outside of Denver have placed upon him.

"Nix isn't close to hitting his," Renck wrote.
