Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old French international Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool manager Arne Slot is currently pushing the Merseyside club to sign Kingsley Coman as a replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian international has been in spectacular form this season, and he has 44 goal contributions in the Premier League.
Salah has helped Liverpool climb to the top of the Premier League table, and he will be hoping to win the title with them this season. However, he will be a free agent in the summer and he has not agreed to sign a new deal with the club yet. Liverpool need to start planning for a future after him, and it is no surprise that they are looking at Coman.
The French international is a serial winner and he has played for multiple big clubs. He knows what it takes to play for a club like Liverpool and fight for trophies regularly. The 28-year-old is versatile enough to operate on either flank and he could be an asset for Liverpool if they can get the deal done. Although he has not been at his best this season, he has shown his quality consistently over the years and Liverpool might be able to get the best out of him once again.
Bayern Munich do not view him as an indispensable asset and it is fair to assume that the German club will sanction his departure for the right price. He is valued at around €30-40 million. Liverpool certainly have the resources to get the deal across the line and signing a dynamic attacker like Coman could prove to be a wise decision.
Can Liverpool replace Salah adequately?
The French international will have creativity and unpredictability to the Liverpool attack. However, he might not be able to replace the end product of the Egyptian international. Liverpool must look to bring in a clinical striker if Salah leaves the club.
It will be interesting to see if they can strengthen the squad adequately during the summer transfer window and come back strong next season.
