Roy Keane has questioned whether Ruben Amorim will be given time to turn Manchester United around if results do not improve.

Amorim has struggled badly so far for much of his brief tenure at Old Trafford. The Portuguese arrived from Sporting CP in November last year with a stellar reputation as one of Europe's finest young managers.

But four months after succeeding Erik ten Hag at United, Amorim has been unable to install any improvement. The Reds have recorded notable wins over Manchester City and Arsenal under him but still sit 15th in the top-flight table.

United are now at risk of missing out on European football unless they win the Europa League this season. Keane, who made 480 appearances for the Reds, has raised doubts over Amorim's tenure ahead of Sunday's huge clash against Arsenal.

"We always talk about giving a manager time, you try and say that for most managers who go into any club," he told Sky Sports.

"You can't keep losing football matches either, and I can say that for most clubs. If you are losing week-in, week-out, there will be doubts in the dressing room.

"I always try and get in the players' mindset, they will be looking at the manager and saying 'what are you bringing to the party?.'

"When there's literally been no reaction to him coming into the club, well that's not a good sign either. But the standards have been dropping at the club for a number of years, have they reached rock bottom? Maybe there is a bit to go yet."
