Jamie Carragher was right to blast Pedro Porro after what the Tottenham right-back did against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Spurs were boosted by the inclusion of Dominic Solanke and Cristian Romero in the starting lineup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (9 March).

However, the home side’s first half performance was incredibly flat, with Bournemouth heading into the break a goal to the good after Marcus Tavernier got on the end of Milos Kerkez’s delightful cross to the far post just before half time.

Romero was all over the place for Spurs, and he wasn’t the only player in a white shirt underperforming.

The Cherries doubled their lead in the second half through Evanilson. However, Spurs fought back in unlikely circumstances, with Pape Matar Sarr scoring a stunner before Son Heung-min won and converted a penalty late on.

As a result, fans will be heading home in a slightly better mood than usual this season. However, Porro in particular should hang his head in shame after his performance against Andoni Iraola’s side.

Porro at fault for first Bournemouth goal v Tottenham

Porro gave the ball away in the build up to Bournemouth’s opening goal, and Carragher wasn’t impressed.

Speaking live on commentary for Sky Sports (9 March, 2:42 pm), the former Liverpool defender said, “What a cross from Kerkez! This is all about him. Inch perfect. Tavernier at the back post guides it in. You won’t see a better cross than that all season.

“The goal came from Porro’s sloppy pass. It was criminal.”

And this mistake wasn’t the only thing Porro did wrong against Bournemouth, with the Spaniard’s overall display incredibly poor.

Premier League Position Points

Bournemouth 8th 44

Newcastle 9th 44

Fulham 10th 42

Crystal Palace 11th 39

Brentford 12th 38

Tottenham 13th 34

As per Sofascore, the 25-year-old won just three of his seven ground duels and lost his one aerial duel, while he also gave possession away 24 times.

In addition, he completed just 70 per cent of his passes, while only four of his nine crosses into the box were accurate, and he also succeeded with zero per cent of his dribble attempts.

Postecoglou needs to have words with Porro at Tottenham

Porro hasn’t been at his best for Spurs this season, and his performance against Bournemouth was all too familiar. Therefore, Postecoglou needs to have words with the right-back and figure out what is going wrong.

Spurs have a huge game on Thursday (13 March) when they welcome AZ Alkmaar to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash.

As a result, Postecoglou cannot afford for Porro to put in another sloppy display.
