The Los Angeles Lakers saw their eight-game winning streak get snapped after losing to the Boston Celtics, 111-101, on Saturday at TD Garden.
The Lakers tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter after being down by as much as 20 points. The Celtics, however, held on to the lead and improved to 46-18. The Lakers, meanwhile, fell to 40-22.
Luka Doncic led the Purple and Gold with a team-high 34 points on 11-of-22 shooting.
Despite the loss, Doncic has been nothing short of spectacular for the Lakers. Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley, however, revealed that an NBA veteran didn't like playing with Doncic when they were teammates on the Dallas Mavericks.
"We in Mykonos, Greece, me, PG (Paul George), Pat Patterson, Big Zu (Ivica Zubac)," said Beverley on his podcast. "I see Tim Hardaway Jr. (He said), 'Yeah, man, I'm trying to get out of Dallas.'
"I go, 'Why? That'd be the worst thing you've ever done. Why are you trying to leave Dallas?' He said, 'Well, man, I just want the ball more. Luka got the ball more.'"
Beverley added that he was dumbfounded by Hardaway, who now plays for the Detroit Pistons, noting that Doncic could help him get three-pointers every game.
"(I said), 'Why are you fighting with Luka?' He (Hardaway) was like, 'I ain't feeling that (expletive),'" added the three-time All-Defensive Team member.
"In nine months, his (expletive) is in Detroit. Lame!"
The 32-year-old Hardaway has been a key piece for the Pistons' resurgence this season, providing instant offense and serving as a veteran presence in the locker room.
The 36-year-old Beverley, on the other hand, is out of the NBA and last played for a club team in Israel.
