Arizona Cardinals: Sign Underrated Pass Rusher to a 2-year Deal

The Arizona Cardinals enter the offseason needing pass rusher help after an okay year of rushing the passer. Arizona tied for 13th in sacks, ranked 26th in pressures, 27th in pressure percentage, tied for 29th in QB hits, and 28th in pass rush win rate. The Cardinals’ top three leading sacks were Zaven Collins with seven QB hits and five sacks, Dante Stills with six QB hits and 4.5 sacks, and L.J. Collier with six QB hits and 3.5 sacks.

One pass rusher not listed is a free agent after a solid finish to his fourth season.

Baron Browning completed the final year of his 4-year, $4,785,852 rookie contract. He began his fourth season with the Denver Broncos, missed early in the year (Weeks 3-6) with a foot injury, fell out of the rotation, and the Broncos traded him to the Cardinals during the NFL Trade Deadline. Browning had a solid second half and finished the year with 21 tackles, five TFLs, 25 pressures, a 16.4% pass-rush win rate, three QB hits, two sacks, and a 76.3 pass-rush grade in 13 games and three starts.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cardinals and Baron Browning have agreed to a multi-year contract extension. As Rapoport points out, the deal is for 2 years and is worth $15 million, worth up to $19 million in incentives.
