Just when it looked like arguably the NFL’s best defensive player was going to leave the Cleveland Browns for a potential playoff contender, there’s been a very expensive twist to the tale.
Pass-rushing extraordinaire Myles Garrett, who requested a trade last month after eight seasons with Cleveland, will be staying in Cleveland for a little while longer. The Browns didn’t intend to move him and they did not blink. Maxx Crosby’s days as the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history lasted but a few fleeting moments.
According to Adam Schefter, the extension also includes a no-trade clause.
The goal for the Browns is to make sure their umpteenth rebuild actually works and that Garrett can experience being on a legitimate Super Bowl contender. He’s more than done his part by racking up 100 sacks before turning 29 years old, something never accomplished before in NFL history.
I guess this also means this was resolved so quickly that we can’t get another Reddit rumor going that he’s being traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
