Leicester City sent 'baffling' message as Foxes urged not to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy

Leicester City produced a battling performance but still ended up losing as Marc Cucurella's second-half goal sealed a 1-0 Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge.

The left-back struck from distance after no Leicester defender opted to close him down and paid the price for not spotting the danger.

In the first half, Mads Hermansen had stopped Chelsea from taking the lead when he dived at full stretch to beat away a Cole Palmer penalty.

While Ruud van Nistelrooy's side competed well enough, they lacked genuine threat in the final third, which has been a problem all season.

Leicester are now six points off safety, and fans had plenty to say about the defeat at Stamford Bridge. Here's a selection of their comments from Twitter, now known as X.

Scott Bird: Better. Bit more fight and ambition in the tackle at times today. Still yet another game without a goal though. United is actually an opportunity to try and finally turn this thing around.

James Taylor: We seemed more solid at the back, however same issues arise, not closing down and they scored. We also don't create enough going forward which puts even more pressure on the defence. We lack so much quality going forward teams can just push players further forward without a worry.

Delaine Moore: What this game showed is no matter how much effort we put in, how hard we work….. we have absolutely nothing up top and relying on a almost 40 year old every week is absolutely ridiculous when we have just had a transfer window.

Syuro_Rekishi: I personally think we played good, just bad luck and others… I am going to trust Ruud throughout so don’t sack him now… He can gather his things together he just needs more time.

JK: Another poor performance, Chelsea weren’t good either, but still fairly comfortable for them. Ruud’s team selection and game management is just baffling. His lack of experience is showing week in week out. He and the players need to wake up.
