'I think': Pickford pinpoints two key things David Moyes has actually done differently to Dyche …

Everton picked up a point on the road in the Premier League on Saturday night, drawing 1-1 with Wolves.

The unbeaten run has stretched to eight games now, and the draw at Molineux is seen as a positive result. It is also the first instance since 2012 Moyes has gone eight games unbeaten.

Wolves had most of the ball in the game, but couldn’t really find a way through Everton’s solid backline, after equalising through Marshall Munetsi.

There were very few clear-cut chances for the hosts, and Everton once again proved a tough nut to crack.

It has been a fantastic spell so far for David Moyes, who himself has admitted he did not expect things to go this well.

It’s been remarkable to see how Everton have improved under him, and after the draw with Wolves, Jordan Pickford shared what’s actually changed under the Scot.

It was an appointment that did raise a few eyebrows.

The notion of ‘never go back’ was something plenty considered, and some also suggested that Moyes is rather cut from the same cloth as Sean Dyche.

Some did not foresee the success he’s had at all due to these reasons.

But Jordan Pickford spoke after the game last night and offered some insight into why Everton are now a much better outfit under Dyche.

In response to a question of what Moyes has changed, he said: “You know, you see Myko, you see the full-backs getting on, getting balls in the box. You need to suffocate teams sometimes and keep them pinned in their half and keep creating chances.

“When you do that, I think teams make mistakes. They can’t defend for that long.

“And I think just that confidence. Tactical work we’re doing on the training pitch, and creating opportunities and scoring more goals.”

How Moyes and Dyche’s records compare for Everton this season

Moyes has been an inspired appointment so far.

And his work has been even more impressive because Everton didn’t do much in January, bringing in only Carlos Alcaraz.

He’s got a tune out of the players where Dyche was struggling to do so.

In what is a really poor reflection on Dyche, Everton have now scored as many goals under Moyes than him in 10 games fewer.

Moyes now just needs one more point to equal the tally of points taken by Dyche this season, which would truly be embarrassing for the former Toffees boss.
