Chelsea 1-0 Leicester: Post Match Chelsea Player Ratings

There were relieved celebrations at full time as Chelsea overtook Manchester City to return to the top four, after a 1-0 victory over relegation candidates Leicester City.

A second half effort from Marc Cucurella was enough to give Chelsea the three points, after Cole Palmer had his penalty kick saved in the first half - ending his flawless streak from the spot.

Elsewhere, there was a welcomed return for Wesley Fofana in the Blues defence, who put in an excellent shift to earn his side a clean sheet. Fans will be hoping the defender remains fit for the rest of the season as they push for European success and Champions League qualification.

Leicester had moments of quality, yet managed just four touches in Chelsea's box and produced an expected goals tally of 0.10 - even with the introduction of several attacking players in the second half.

Chelsea will now prepare for the second leg of their Conference League tie against FC Copenhagen, before a fierce London derby against rivals Arsenal at the weekend.

Here is how every Chelsea player rated in this match:

Starting Line-Up

Robert Sanchez - 6.5

Raised a few eyebrows with his inclusion. Was not given much of a test by the Foxes, and picked up a crucial clean sheet for his side.

Wesley Fofana - 7

Back in the team following a lengthy recovery, and was given a good runout as he recovered some match fitness. Would have preferred to play more centrally rather than being shifted to right back. Subbed off to applause by the Chelsea support.

Tosin Adarabioyo - 7

Almost got himself into trouble with a defensive header bouncing off the crossbar, after Sanchez had missed the initial cross. Was otherwise solid, making some key blocks and dominating in the air.

Levi Colwill - 6.5

Has played the most minutes out of any Chelsea defender in the league this season. Solid as usual, showing physicality and aggression. Often advanced into midfield, using his passing ability to create chances.

Marc Cucurella - 9

Energetic and mobile, often appearing in the Leicester box to create overloads in attack. A well taken goal on the hour mark after finding himself in space.

Moises Caicedo - 8

Quietly excellent as usual, helping his side to keep possession with some excellent interceptions. A decent half-volley effort in the first half.

Enzo Fernandez - 7.5

Added another assist to his league tally after scoring in midweek. Created opportunities whilst also attempting a few of his own. Often moved down the right wing.

Jadon Sancho - 7

Quick and mobile when progressing into the Leicester box, testing the goalkeeper with a few efforts. Was not as effective from the left hand side.

Cole Palmer - 6

Was unable to end his goal drought even from the penalty spot, with Palmer missing a penalty for the first time in his professional career. Was solid in linking play and getting into good attacking positions, but was subbed off in the second half.

Christopher Nkunku - 6

Had a great chance at the end of the first half, which was tipped over the bar by the Leicester keeper. Somewhat isolated and unsure of his position given the current fluidity within Chelsea's attack.

Pedro Neto - 8

Couldn't mark his 25th birthday with a goal contribution - but showed determination confidence until the final whistle, despite playing with a head injury for a majority of the game.

Substitutes

Trevoh Chalobah - 7

Brought calmness to the Chelsea defence, helping to deal with some late Leicester chances and maintain the clean sheet.

Tyrique George - 7

Played slightly deeper compared to Sancho, using his pace to track back and cut out attacks. Some smart decision making by the young man.

Josh Acheampong - N/A

Brought on in the final minutes.
