The Chicago Bulls look like a long shot to make the playoffs.
All things considered, this was another developmental season for some of their young players, and while they didn’t fully embrace a long-overdue rebuild, there have been some positive things this season.
For starters, it seems like Josh Giddey has broken out without Zach LaVine by his side.
As shown by Legion Hoops on X, the Australian guard has been on an absolute roll since the All-Star break (via Real Sports).
During that span, he’s averaged 22.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game.

The former No. 6 pick had already showcased his ability to stuff the stat sheet and flirt with a triple-double on a nightly basis, but he hadn’t been at his best since he arrived in the Windy City.
Perhaps he can’t excel with another ball-dominant player by his side.
That seemed to be the case with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder as well.
Now that LaVine is gone, Giddey has the ball in his hands early and often, and he’s clearly getting into a rhythm and has gained a lot of confidence with expanded opportunities.
The Bulls are far from being a competitive team, but with Matas Buzelis slowly coming around and another first-round pick going their way, they could have a solid core around their two youngsters and Giddey.
He still needs to be a more consistent shooter, but it’s nice to see him take a more aggressive approach as a scorer and a facilitator.
