Liverpool icon Luis Suarez has offered support to Darwin Nunez after his fellow Uruguayan found the target during the Reds' 3-1 win over Southampton. The 25-year-old sparked the comeback against the Premier League strugglers as Arne Slot's side moved 16 points clear at the top of the table.
As a result, the Reds moved one step closer to winning their second Premier League crown and 20th top-flight English championship. It proved to be another key contribution from Nunez after his assist for Harvey Elliott during their Champions League knockout win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Nunez was afforded a start and made a run across the front-post to convert Luis Diaz's cut-back six minutes into the second-half. The Uruguayan avoided a flurry of changes from Slot during the interval as Kostas Tsimikas, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai were withdrawn.

Suarez replied to his fellow countryman's post: "Clear goalscorer! YNWA," after Nunez posted on X: "Good win, let's keep going."
The Liverpool head coach praised Nunez after his display as the Reds tactician served the final of his two-match touchline ban.
“That is also the life of a number nine,” he said. “You go from missing a chance to scoring an important goal to missing a chance again.
“But today, especially in the second half. you also saw the work rate he can bring to the team. But the main thing that happened in the second half was that we started to play in a different tempo.
“Not only without the ball, but also with the ball. For the first goal, if you look at Lucho (Luis Diaz) how he takes the one v one on, I don’t think I can select a clip where that happened in the first half. Not a lot.
“For the second goal, Ryan Gravenberch pushed up all the way to the 18-yard line to win the ball that led to the foul on Darwin. In the first half, every ball that fell out, they could pick up the ball and start to play.
“The energy for the players and the fans was completely different in the second half to the first half.”
