What Ruben Amorim got right as Man Utd'end Mikel Arteta's Arsenal title hopes'

It's not quite a fatal hammer blow, but Manchester United delivered a major strike into the heart of Arsenal's title bid.

The bottom line is Mikel Arteta's side had to win at Old Trafford - anything else would be handing more ground to Liverpool, who took all three points against Southampton on Saturday.

And they couldn't mange it against a faltering United, who find themselves in 14th place in the Premier League. To be fair, this was a better United - but they were still one million miles away from their glory days.

And after the 1-1 draw, which has left Arsenal a whopping 15 points behind Arne Slot's men, Daily Star Sporthas a look at what Ruben Amorim got right and wrong.

Captain Fantastic

Bruno Fernandes

Where, oh where, would Ruben Amorim be without Bruno Fernandes? Probably, in the relegation zone.

Ahead of the Red Devils' clash with Arsenal, Harry Redknapp, writing in The Sun, declared that Fernandes would only be fit to pick up the cones for United's famous Class of 92 side.

Redknapp is a Premier League icon - but he couldn't be more wrong. Fernandes is the best player to pull on the famous red shirt in the past decade, and he proved excatly why with another captain's performance on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have been hapless, at times, under Ruben Amorim.

However, one thing that Amorim has got right over and over again is getting his side ready for a big game. Under Amorim they have shocked ManchesterCity, held Liverpool to a draw, and knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup, with the Gunners' continuing to struggle against the Portuguese boss.

There are already murmurs about Amorim's popularity at Carrington - with players questioning his tactics. But what they can't dispute if he knows how to organise them for a big game.

Noussair Mazraoui's role

There have been a fair few flops to rock up at Old Trafford down the past couple of years - Noussair Mazraoui isn't one of those.

Perhaps the last good decision made by Erik ten Hag was to bring the former Bayern Munich into the fold. He was up and down the wing all game - almost doubling the Red Devils' lead if it wasn't for a fantastic stop from David Raya.

"Noussair Mazraoui is doing all this whilst fasting too. Just incredible," one fan said. While a second replied: "Mazraoui is playing so well and the fact that hes fasting makes it even crazier!"

Failing to track runners

For everything that United got right to frustrate Arsenal for the first hour - it was all undone in one quick move from the Gunners that resulted in a Declan Rice goal.

The former West Ham midfielder swept the ball across Andre Onana's goal to fire the Gunners level.

It was everything that has been wrong with United this season. A little bit of pace on the break and then failing to track the late runners, resulitng in a goal. Ruben Amorim needs to fix this next season.

Rasmus Hojlund and his future

Rasmus Hojlund's future at Manchester United is in doubt - you expect so much more for £72million.

There's just something that isn't quite clicking for the Dane - and he had two golden opportunities to win the clash on Sunday. Both of them resulting in more annoyance from the Stretford End as he failed to take his chances.

That could be that for Hojlund in the summer, as Amorim looks to bolster his attacking line.
