Amid mounting global scrutiny over its nuclear ambitions, an Iranian parliament member has made a startling claim about the country’s ability to develop nuclear weapons “as easily as drinking water.” This latest statement from Mohammad Motamedizadeh, a member of the Iranian regime’s parliament, highlights Tehran’s continued defiance in the face of Western sanctions and diplomatic efforts to curb its nuclear program.
In a recent parliamentary session, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Parliament, dismissed U.S. President Trump’s call for renewed negotiations, accusing Washington of using talks as a “deceptive ploy” to disarm Iran. “It is obvious that no negotiation under the shadow of threats will lead to the lifting of sanctions,” Ghalibaf declared, emphasizing that Iran will not await any diplomatic overtures from the U.S.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Matamedizadeh made an alarming assertion regarding the regime’s nuclear capabilities. “If we decide to enrich uranium to 90% purity, it will be as easy as drinking water. If we choose to develop nuclear weapons, we can do so effortlessly,” he stated. This bold pronouncement directly contradicts Tehran’s long-standing claims that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.

Meanwhile, in an apparent effort to maintain a diplomatic façade, the regime’s delegation to the United Nations stated that Tehran remains open to negotiations regarding concerns over its nuclear program—provided the talks are not aimed at dismantling what it calls its “peaceful nuclear infrastructure.” The statement, released on social media, warned that any attempt to force Iran into abandoning its nuclear activities would be a non-starter.
This position echoes remarks made by the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who once again ruled out negotiations with the U.S., asserting that Western countries use diplomatic engagements to impose their demands on Iran. Khamenei emphasized that Iran would not bow to international pressure over its nuclear and missile programs.
The latest nuclear threats from Iran come as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Western powers increase pressure on Tehran to clarify its nuclear activities. Concerns have grown over the regime’s enrichment of uranium at levels just below weapons-grade, as well as its continued restrictions on IAEA inspections at nuclear sites.
1. The clerical regime will not abandon the project to obtain a nuclear bomb. Today, regime officials brazenly talk about their intention to build an atomic bomb. Tehran’s adversarial stance has drawn fresh warnings from the international community. The European Union is reportedly preparing new sanctions targeting Iran’s shipping industry, accusing it of facilitating illicit arms transfers. Meanwhile, the U.S. administration has hinted at further measures if Tehran refuses to comply with nuclear agreements.
For years, Tehran has used its nuclear program as leverage to gain concessions from the West, frequently threatening to escalate its enrichment activities whenever diplomatic or economic pressures intensify. The latest barrage of nuclear threats from Iranian officials reinforces the regime’s strategy of nuclear brinkmanship—raising the stakes in an already volatile geopolitical climate.
As the international community grapples with how to respond, Tehran’s threats highlight the urgent need for decisive action. The clerical regime continues to test the limits of global patience, but its nuclear ambitions cannot be ignored. The world must take Tehran’s nuclear rhetoric seriously and hold the regime to account for its violations of international treaties.
