Rasmus Hojlund's future at Manchester United continues to be a talking point as the season goes on.
Hojlund has scored just seven goals for United this season, with just two of those coming in the Premier League. It's that form which has led to some criticism being directed at the Denmark international in recent months, as he nears the end of his second season at Old Trafford.
United signed Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth up to £72million. The striker has since gone on to find the back of the net just 23 times in a United shirt, and now a fresh update has emerged about the striker.
According to The Mirror, United boss Ruben Amorim wants to add a new centre to his squad in the summer transfer window. It has been claimed that Amorim is "losing faith" in Hojlund being able to be a long-term solution for United.
The report states that Amorim wants a striker who has a "physical presence, intelligence and carries a goal threat". Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres are two players mentioned in the report as being of interest to United.
Should United want to sign Mateta, the report claims that they would need to meet Palace's £40million asking price in the summer. Mateta has scored 15 goals for Palace this season, including a brace to help the Eagles beat United 2-0 last month.
Gyokeres, meanwhile, is reported to be valued at double that figure at £80million, the fee that is currently in the striker's release clause. The Sweden international has 37 goals in 39 appearances to his name in all competitions this term.
