The Tampa Bay Buccaneers checked one item off their free agency to-do list already with the return of linebacker Lavonte David.
Next on that list should be wideout Chris Godwin, who is coming off a major injury in 2024. Godwin dislocated his ankle in the final minute of a 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7.
And while he's expected to be fully healthy, sometimes injuries - especially to positional skill players - can reduce the market and bring down the asking price for players in free agency.
But SI's Matt Vanderame doesn't think that will be the case with Godwin, and that other teams are ready to "pounce" on him if and when he is available.
"If Godwin gets out of Tampa Bay, the Broncos should pounce," Verderame wrote. "Denver needs more playmakers for second-year quarterback Bo Nix, and Godwin certainly qualifies. Despite a dislocated ankle which cost him the final 10 games of the season, Godwin caught 50 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns. Paired with Courtland Sutton, Denver would be a tough cover."
General manager Jason Licht is typically good about keeping his own who he values. Case in point is Godwin's fellow receiver Mike Evans, who is entering the final year of his two-year, $41 million deal last offseason.

The duo of Godwin and Evans has been instrumental in the Bucs' offensive success, especially since Baker Mayfield rolled into town.
