Thousands of Manchester United fans gathered in protest outside old Trafford ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The protest was organised and led by The 1958, the group of die-hard United fans, and saw fans of all ages take to the streets of Manchester to make their voices heard.

This mile-long demonstration comes after fans took to the streets in January to voice their disdain with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of the club’s majority stakeholder INEOS, in response to increasing his company’s stake in the club to 25%.
And today, the 1958 and their sympathisers rallied to protest the club’s owner once again.
According to BBC Sport, “fans sang pointed and abusive songs towards co-chairman Joel Glazer and Ratcliffe, who has spent £1.3bn for a 28.94% stake in the club.”
This increase in stake ownership has The Red Devils’ fans very riled up, with thousands gathered in song and outcry of their frustration with their beloved club’s owners.
What’s more, Conrad Wiacek, via Sportcal, pointed out that ‘fans were encouraged to wear black to symbolise how their club was ‘slowly dying’.
This thronging procession of passionate fans has caught the world’s eye, but whether or not the Glazers or Ratcliffe will listen to their cries will remain to be seen.
