FRISCO - We have a change in the way Micah Parsons might get paid by the Dallas Cowboys.
We have no change, unfortunately, for the way Micah Parsons' brother injects himself into the story in a way that helps no one.
This week is making history in re-setting the defensive end market, and maybe the most deserving guy of all is still waiting.
The Cowboys, as we have chronicled here on CowboysCountry.com, have opened contract negotiations with star edge rusher Micah Parsons for weeks.
There are no plans to trade him. There are also no plans to screw him.
And realistically? While Micah is on record (from a few weeks ago) saying he didn't need to make $40 million per year in his coming extension?
Maxx Crosby (Las Vegas) and Myles Garrett (Cleveland) both re-signed massive contract extensions with their teams, making them each - at the time - the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
And Garrett just hit the $40 million mark.
Parsons is still left waiting his turn, causing some journalists to start speculating as to whether Dallas actually wants to pay Parsons or not, hinting that a trade may be in effect.
We have no indication of that.
What we do understand is the frustration in Cowboys Nation that Jerry and Stephen Jones haven't been as proactive as the Raiders and the Browns in getting their guys done.
Enter Micah's brother Terrence, who for reasons unknown is again sticking his nose into his brother's business.
Writes Terrence, in taking two social media digs at Micah's employers: "Omgggggggggggg cowboys just shot themselves smh this is why you already have a deal in place. ... They said Micah was gonna be the first 40 million dollar defensive player cowboys said nahh (expletive) that we'll pay more.''
The issue isn't whether Terrence's takes are accurate.
The issue is why Micah allows Terrence to create a framework in which it appears that Terrence is the family spokesman.
We will see how this plays out. Maybe it gets ugly. But having family members going public with NSFW takes on the people that Micah Parsons is working with?
That's a different kind of ugly, all by itself.
