Last offseason, the [New Orleans Saints](https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/) let many of their players leave in free agency due to having to clean the cap. This year, the team has some more flexibility. Keeping depth players who can help when needed is always a good idea, and today, per Ari Meirov, the Saints did just that by re-signing WR Dante Pettis.

Pettis is not a name that will jump off the page when looking back at the moves the Saints made this offseason, but that does not mean this move is a bad one. When Pettis started due to injuries ravaging the Saints WR room, he made a bunch of plays and stepped up when many other receivers failed to do so. A player like this is valuable when the two starting WRs are coming off of seasons ruined by injuries. Even if Pettis never sees the field on offense, he can still make an impact on special teams.
