Davante Adams signs with Los Angeles Rams

Former Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams, who played for the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets last season, has signed with the Los Angeles Rams according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Per Schefter, it’s a two-year deal worth $46 million that includes $26 million in guarantees. That $23 million per year figure ties Calvin Ridley for 17th in the league at the receiver position.

A potential return for Adams to Green Bay was spoken about throughout the offseason. He stated that he would be willing to return to the Packers back in January, which led to Xavier McKinney openly recruiting Adams on Twitter/X and Josh Jacobs stating that the team could use a true WR1 type of pass-catcher.

With Adams headed back to his home state of California, though, the reunion will have to wait — if it ever happens at all.

In other former Packers news, the Detroit Lions released defensive end Za’Darius Smith today and the Minnesota Vikings re-signed running back Aaron Jones. Jones was offered a pay cut from Green Bay that was set to pay him $4 million in 2024 with $2 million in incentives. Instead of taking that deal, he chose to hit the open market via a release and signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Vikings. His newest deal will make him $20 million and $13 million guaranteed with Minnesota.

For a point of reference, the running back the Packers signed in free agency last season, Josh Jacobs, only received $12.5 million in guarantees on his four-year contract. From a financial standpoint, Jones’ decision is paying off.
