A former Manchester United mid-fielding legend has just agreed take on a technical advisory role for a national team.
The Indonesian national team have nominated a new technical advisor, with hopes that they can improve the nation’s chances at the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
The heavily Dutch-influenced team have only qualified once for the international competition since its conception; in 1938 when a 0-6 loss to Hungary brought about their elimination.
Now though, with hopes to rewrite history nd earn their place on the World Cup roster once again, Indonesia have appointed a new technical advisor.
According to Jakarta Globe, former United midfielder Jordi Cruyff has been appointed Technical Advisor for the Indonesia national team, also stating that “heir immediate and most important task is to qualify Indonesia for the 2026 World Cup.”

Cruyff reportedly arrived in Indonesia this evening to begin his term in the role, following his time as sporting advisor to Barcelona FC which he began in June 2021.
According to ESPN, “Indonesian fans are hoping the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup will give them a chance to qualify for the tournament for the second time”.
The 51 year-old hopes to have a hand in securing the football-fervent nation their World Cup dreams.
