It’s Josh Allen’s world and we’re all living in it.
One month after being named NFL MVP, Allen and the [Buffalo Bills](https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/) agreed to terms on a contract that will keep the quarterback in Buffalo through 2030.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the new contract is a six-year, $330 million deal that includes $250 million guaranteed. The guaranteed money is the largest ever given out to an NFL player.
Despite having four years left on his previous deal, Buffalo felt the need to reward their franchise quarterback after several other quarterbacks surpassed his previous contract. At the end of the 2024 season, Allen was 14th among quarterbacks with his average annual value coming in at $43 million.
Allen put together an MVP season in which he scored 41 touchdowns and committed a career-low eight turnovers in 2024. It was Allen’s fifth consecutive season in which he scored over 40 touchdowns, an NFL record.
To Allen’s credit, the quarterback was not in a rush to sign a new deal with the Bills despite outplaying his previous deal. At the start of the 2024 season, Allen said he had no problem with where he was at in terms of his deal.
“Listen, everyone’s going to have their day. I’m happy that everyone’s getting what they’re worth, right?” Allen said. “And I think that as the game progresses and guys keep getting paid, the market is the market. I’ve got no problem with where I’m at right now. I had my day a couple years ago, and I’m sure someday I’ll have it again.”
That someday became Sunday.
It is unknown how much money the new deal will open up for the Bills ahead of free agency as of this writing.
