Hundreds of thousands of people were without power in Queensland and flood warnings remain in place across New South Wales after ex-Cyclone Alfred left a trail of destruction along Australia’s east coast.

Approximately 316,540 properties in Queensland were without electricity yesterday, with the Gold Coast being the hardest hit with over 112,000 customers affected.
