Clear Favorite Emerges for Joey Bosa in NFL Free Agency

The Los Angeles Chargers released five-time NFL Pro Bowler Joey Bosa on Wednesday night, making him an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2025 season.

The Chargers freed up $25.36 million in cap space by cutting ties with the franchise's longest-tenured player.

Bosa appeared in 14 regular-season games with the Chargers in 2024, notching 22 tackles, 5.0 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and two forced fumbles. The 29-year-old pass rusher is now on the hunt for a new team for the first time since the Chargers selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

So, where will Bosa suit up in 2025?

According to the most recent betting odds, there's a clear favorite to sign Bosa before the 2025 NFL season.

DraftKings Sportsbook gives the San Francisco 49ers plus-220 odds to land Bosa, pairing him alongside his younger brother and 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Bosa.

Here are the full betting odds, as of Mar. 7:

49ers: +220

Chargers: +400

Lions: +800

Bears: +900

Patriots: +900

Bengals: +1000

Cardinals: +1000

Commanders: +1200

Eagles: +1200

According to reports from 49ers insider Tim Kawakami on Sunday, San Francisco have had "good conversations" with Bosa.

"Meanwhile, I've heard Joey Bosa and 49ers are having good conversations and this feels like it's headed toward a deal," Kawakami reports.

"Nothing is done, but the Bosa brothers want to be together and probably will get there this year. Which likely means this will be a moderate deal + incentives."

Joey and Nick Bosa were both star pass rushers for the Ohio State Buckeyes, but never overlapped as teammates at the collegiate level. According to these odds and reports, it appears the brothers could be NFL teammates in San Francisco before the start of the 2025 season.
