Bucks Make Giannis Antetokounmpo Announcement After Loss to Cavaliers

The Milwaukee Bucks fell to the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday evening, marking the team's second consecutive loss.

Despite home-court advantage at Fiserv Forum, the Bucks surrendered a 112-100 score to Donovan Mitchell and the visiting Cavaliers.

While the Bucks were unable to notch a win, Sunday did mark yet another MVP-caliber performance from All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo finished the contest with a game-high 30 points, nine rebounds and three assists, shooting 13/24 from the field. The two-time league MVP also notched two steals in the Bucks' 27th loss of the season.

With his 30 points, Antetokounmpo passed Tom Chambers and took over the No. 50 spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

While this was a solid performance from Antetokounmpo, his statistics didn't live up to his 2024-25 season averages. In his 12th season with the Bucks franchise, the nine-time NBA All-Star is averaging 30.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

In Saturday's 111-109 loss to the Orlando Magic, Antetokounmpo finished with 37 points and 11 rebounds.

Antetokounmpo currently holds the third-best odds to win this year's NBA MVP trophy, trailing Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic.

With Sunday evening's loss to the Cavaliers, the Bucks' 2024-25 season record dropped to 36-27. Milwaukee holds the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, trailing the No. 1 seed Cavaliers by 17.5 games.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will face off against the No. 5 seed Indiana Pacers in their next matchup on Tuesday night.
