One season was all Kenny Atkinson needed to make franchise history in his first year as the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach.
The Cavaliers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 112-100 on Sunday night. Both teams traded blows throughout the game, but the visitors proved to have more offensive firepower than the hosts.
Five players scored in double-digits for Cleveland. Max Strus led the team in scoring and rebounding with 17 points and nine rebounds on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Donovan Mitchell came next with 15 points and six assists, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley scored 13 points each, while Jarrett Allen provided 11 points and six rebounds.
With the win, Atkinson earned his 54th of the season. As a result, he now holds the franchise record for most victories by a head coach in their first year with the Cavaliers.

Cleveland boasts a 54-10 record on the season, possessing the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They also have the best record in the league, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder by one game. They continue to make their potential case for their first NBA Finals run since 2018.
The Cavaliers have the best offense in the league, averaging the most points per game (123.1) while having the best offensive rating (122.8). On defense, they have the 11th-best scoring defense (111.7) and the seventh-best defensive rating (111.5).
Following Sunday’s win over the Bucks, marking their 14th straight, the Cavaliers will prepare for their next matchup. They host the Brooklyn Nets on March 11 at 7 p.m. ET.
