Booker and Durant lead Phoenix past injury-riddled Dallas in crucial road win
DALLAS, (KYMA, KECY) -The Phoenix Suns took advantage of a short-handed Dallas Mavericks squad Sunday night, securing a 125-116 victory that keeps them within striking distance of the Western Conference play-in tournament.
Devin Booker led the way for Phoenix with 24 points despite struggling from the field, shooting just 10-of-24 and missing all six of his three-point attempts. Kevin Durant contributed 21 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, while Grayson Allen added 17 points off the bench. The Suns had six players score in double figures as they wore down a depleted Mavericks team.
Dallas, missing several key players, relied heavily on Naji Marshall, who delivered a stellar performance with 34 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. Klay Thompson chipped in 26 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Phoenix’s balanced attack. The Mavericks also lost Dwight Powell, Kessler Edwards, and Brandon Williams late in the game, further depleting their rotation.
With the win, Phoenix (30-34) moves within 1.5 games of Dallas for the 10th seed and now holds the season tiebreaker. The Suns continue their road trip Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies, looking to build momentum in their push for a postseason spot.
