Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy Taken to Task Over Harsh Bronny James Comments

LeBron James' son Bronny continued his strong play in the G-League on Saturday with a 16-point, six-assist, five rebound performance for the South Bay Lakers against the Motor City Cruise, rekindling talk of the younger James' NBA potential.

Bronny James has not played an NBA game since March 4, 2025 but has been showcasing the talent necessary to be in line for a potential call-up.

Over the weekend, one of the sport's world's most well known commentators, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, took Bronny James to task after viewing a social media video from Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum of his young son Deuce's exciting moves on the basketball court.

"Deuce>Bronny," Portnoy shared as he reposted a Tatum clip of his young son nailing a spinning, high degree of difficulty shot.

The young Tatum appeared to travel on the play but the referees let it slide, perhaps considering the young age of the players.

"You're better than this, Dave," one fan said in response.

"Why are you obsessed with Boston professional athletes' kids?" another fan wondered aloud.

"Traveled so more like Bron," another fan added.

"Portnoy the most insecure and sensitive dude," another fan added with a laughing and crying emoji.

The Lakers are scheduled to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday at 7:30 p.m., continuing their show of excitement since the trade acquisition of Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks.
