MUTV pundit makes feelings clear on Victor Lindelof performance vs Arsenal,‘it’s always…’

Victor Lindelof stepped in for Manchester United to make a return to the starting line-up.

Sweden international Victor Lindelof is a name and player Manchester United fans are very familiar with, having been at the club since 2017.

Current head coach Ruben Amorim is less familiar with Lindelof, even though he actually played alongside him during his career.

The game against Arsenal was the sixth time Lindelof has played under Amorim at Manchester United, and just his second start, his previous being the Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Tottenham.

How Victor Lindelof fared

Victor Lindelof’s first Premier League start for under Ruben Amorim saw him line-up alongside Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt. Ayden Heaven replaced Yoro at half-time.

Lindelof was quietly effective, although had the benefit of playing against an Arsenal side without a recognized striker.

The Swede completed 90 per cent of his passes, and made 10 clearances in total, with one interception. He also won 3/3 aerial duels, only conceding one free-kick.

Victor Lindelof performance praised

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown spoke to MUTV’s Matchday Review about Victor Lindelof, and says he liked what he saw from the centre-back.

Brown explained: “It was solid performance again. And it’s always difficult when you just get thrown in and you have not played for a good while. Obviously, he’s been training. He’s been sub quite a lot this season, but he managed to do very well in the 90 minutes.

“You’d say he didn’t put a foot wrong, in a way, he did what he needed to do.

“And that’s good for him, because we’re going to need him going forward, but that’s what you expect from your senior international players as well.

“He’s very experienced, and he will be wanting to play every week, but when he gets an opportunity, he’ll show what he’s got.”

Manchester United are likely to need Victor Lindelof’s experience later this week against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the season, while Harry Maguire and now Leny Yoro are battling injuries.

Lindelof’s contract expires at the end of this season, but he may still have a little more to give before we get there.
