‘Get on with it’ – Leeds United verdict delivered by Neil Warnock amid promotion charge

Leeds United have been urged to ‘get on with it’ by former boss Neil Warnock as they eye promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United are sat top of the Championship table as they look to get over the line and into the top flight. LUFC have Sheffield United and Burnley chasing them down.

The Whites lost 1-0 away at Portsmouth over the weekend. Colby Bishop scored for the hosts and they weren’t able to get back into the game and returned home with nothing.

Warnock was on pundit duties for Sky Sports and said after the game: “I think you try and relax your players as much as you can. It’s not going to be fitness now, no matter what you do now, forget fitness. There’s 10 games to go so it’s all up here now, in your mind. (It’s about) getting the best out of your players.”

He added: “Have a look at your stats this year. Get on with it, you know. The fans have got to get behind them and not be nervous. It is easier said than done. Elland Road is a special place when it’s a full house.”

Leeds United remain in a strong position with 10 fixtures left.

They are above Sheffield United on goal difference and two points above Burnley in 3rd.

The Whites are winless in their last two matches and will want to return to winning ways against Millwall on Wednesday before heading to QPR away this weekend.

Daniel Farke’s side will want to do their upmost to avoid the play-offs this term.

They lost in the final at Wembley last year to Southampton and the top six is always a gamble.

Leeds United lost key players like Archie Gray, Crysensio Summerville and Georginio Rutter last summer.

However, that hasn’t affected them too much and they have bounced back from their loss to the Saints well as they aim to win the title.

Leeds United will need to dust themselves down and try and get a win against Millwall.

The Lions won 2-1 away at Watford last time out and have done well since Alex Neil took over from Neil Harris.

As Warnock alluded to though, the Whites have to relax and need their supporters to help them as they look to pick up the points they need to go up.
