West Ham Predicted Lineup vs Newcastle United
How West Ham Have Lined Up Recently
Potter, much like his predecessor Julen Lopetegui, has been experimental with his team selections, residing to a 5-3-2 in their last match.
Alphonse Areola will be expected to start in goal for West Ham, who have kept two consecutive clean sheets in the league. He has played the majority of matches so far this season, with Lukasz Fabianski stepping in after Areola picked up an injury. It wasn’t until Fabianski sustained a back injury in a 1-0 away win against Southampton that Areola reclaimed his spot.

Against Chelsea, Potter played what was then his usual three at the back with Vladimir Coufal, Max Kilman and Aaron Cresswell, and Jean-Clair Todibo was injured. This turns into a back five under pressure with the wing-backs being Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Oliver Scarles. The Hammers first clean sheet came away to Arsenal and have made it two on the bounce after the comfortable display against Leicester City.
The midfield three against the Foxes was Tomas Soucek, Edson Alvarez and former Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse. Guido Rodriguez is yet to feature for Potter.
Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have played on the wings but more recently as an upfront partnership with Crysencio Summerville slotting in when his side has suspensions or injuries. Lucas Paqueta and Carlos Soler play as the attacking midfielder between the wingers. Niklas Fullkrug started in the FA Cup against Villa but was subbed off due to yet another injury.
West Ham’s Recent Form
Potter’s Hammers are starting to find themselves in a bit of form, moving them further away from the relegation battle. West Ham currently sit 16th in the table with 33 points, but a win could jump above Tottenham, Manchester United and Everton.

In their most recent match, West Ham comfortably eased to a 2-0 win over 19th-place and relegation-bound Leicester City, stretching Potter’s side’s winning streak to two matches after a win over Arsenal. Both goals over the Foxes came in the first half thanks to a goal from Soucek and an own goal from Yannick Vestergaard in the 43rd minute.
West Ham Injuries to Consider
Potter will have five injuries to take into account when choosing his team selection for this evening. Paqueta and Coufal are doubts about the match, due to an ankle injury and hamstring injury respectively.
Summerville is not expected to return until early April from a hamstring injury with Fullkrug also suffering from the same injury, with a return scheduled for late March. Michail Antonio is not expected to return until the end of the season.
