'We need to': Pereira admits there's one thing about Marshall Munetsi he must fix for Wolves

It was a good weekend for Wolves in the Premier League in the end, with the club increasing the gap to the relegation zone to six points.

Wolves played out a 1-1 draw with Everton at Molineux.

Without Matheus Cunha, Wolves did struggle to fashion clear-cut chances throughout the contest.

But Jean-Ricner Bellegarde did provide one moment of quality when he threaded a perfect ball through to Marshall Munetsi to score his first goal for the club.

Jack Harrison had opened the scoring for Everton, so it was a good show of character from Wolves to equalise.

Munetsi came in for praise from Pereira, who felt the midfielder had deserved his goal. The Wolves manager also assured fans the Zimbabwe international would score more going forward.

But Vitor Pereira has also identified one thing with Munetsi that he does need to address.

It has been fascinating to watch Munetsi in a Wolves shirt since he signed from Reims in January.

The star was brought in as a box-to-box midfielder, and was essentially a replacement for Mario Lemina.

But we have not really seen him in that role yet, with Munetsi playing more advanced.

Against Everton, he played as the inside right forward, with Bellegarde to the left. But Munetsi continued to pop up in the penalty area.

While Pereira is pleased with his new signing, he admits that he does need to control the 28-year-old.

He said: “He fights for every ball. He defends, appears in the box to score, tries to press everywhere.

“Sometimes we need to control him a little bit! We need balance in the way we attack and defend and how we press.”

Munetsi has brilliant energy

Munetsi seems to be everywhere for Wolves in games and it’s understandable that Pereira would want to see a bit more control with him going forward.

But it has to be said, Munetsi’s fitness levels are impressive.

Just days after he signed, Pereira admitted that Munetsi had run the most of any Wolves player in a training session.

So the energy he has been showing in games should not come as too much of a surprise.

Clearly at the moment though, Pereira feels Munetsi needs to channel his energy better. It can’t be easy when his natural instinct is to go from box-to-box.
