Former Arsenal and Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has said that the Gunners should sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal are set to move for a striker during the summer transfer window, as many believe it is the one position missing from Mikel Arteta‘s XI for them to win a Premier League title.

Both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have suffered injuries this season, and seeing as Arsenal failed to add a striker in January, Arteta has been forced to play Mikel Merino up front.
They have been linked to several top strikers, with reports suggesting that their top target is Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. However, former Gunner Silvestre has said that they should “break the bank” for a different number nine.
Speaking to yaysweepstakes.com, the former Arsenal defender said: “Arsenal should go and get Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer. He is the one player that I would try and break the bank for if I was Mikel Arteta.
“Viktor Gyokeres would be a very good signing for Arsenal. He’s powerful, that’s what they’re missing. They don’t have a player like him in their squad.
“He’s a big physical presence that has had another brilliant season. He’s scored goals at the highest level in the Champions League. As a number 9, he’s got everything that you want.”
Could Arsenal sign Gyokeres in the summer?
The Gunners were heavily linked to signing Gyokeres during last summer’s transfer window, but they decided against making a move for him due to his hefty price tag.
The Sweden international has scored 25 goals in 23 league games for Sporting this season, proving himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in the top European leagues.
He has more recently been linked to Manchester United because of the links to former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim. But Arsenal could come back in for Gyokeres, who has an £83 million release clause in his contract.
However, it is understood that Sporting could accept an offer closer to £70 million for the 26-year-old in the summer.
