OIC envoy discusses Afghanistan with Turkish foreign ministry official

KABUL— Tariq Ali Bakheet, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) special envoy for Afghanistan, met with Cihad Erginay, Turkey’s former ambassador to Kabul and current director general for South Asia at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the OIC, the meeting focused on political, economic, and humanitarian issues in Afghanistan, as well as cooperation between the two sides in addressing these challenges.

The statement emphasized the importance of continued engagement to support the Afghan people and maintain “constructive dialogue with the Taliban.”

Both officials also explored ideas and approaches to address key concerns in line with OIC resolutions.

Bakheet highlighted Turkey’s role in advancing the objectives outlined in OIC resolutions on Afghanistan and acknowledged Ankara’s contributions to humanitarian and diplomatic efforts.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued exchanges aimed at promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in Afghanistan, the statement added.
