Everton forward Jack Harrison is feeling optimistic about his trajectory after a challenging season. The winger's goal was crucial in securing a 1-1 draw against Wolves on Saturday, contributing to Everton's eight-match unbeaten streak.
Since his move from Leeds United to Goodison Park, the 28-year-old hasn't quite replicated his Premier League success with Leeds, but he's determined to improve.
Jesper Lindstrom's assist allowed Harrison to notch up his first goal of the season, signalling a potential turnaround. Having started the last five games, Harrison acknowledges his pivotal role in Everton's improved form but admits there's room for growth.
He shared: "It's been a very frustrating season."
He continued: "I've been working really hard to try and make my mark and have some good performances, but sometimes you just need a bit of luck, and I feel like I've not quite hit the level that I wanted to this season."
The United winger remains self-critical, adding: "I'm still a few levels away from the level where I can perform. The last few games have definitely been a positive step in the right direction."
The player expressed gratitude for recent opportunities, saying, "I'm grateful for the opportunities I've been getting recently. I'm trying to take advantage of the time that I'm getting and hopefully I can contribute a lot more."
Under David Moyes' leadership, Everton have distanced themselves from relegation worries and are now eyeing European spots rather than fearing the drop zone. Harrison credits Moyes with lifting spirits at the club.
The player gushed about his manager: "He's demanding. He's got a Scottish side of things, he brings a lot of character. He's also very approachable and clear with what he wants from his players as well."
He continued to express his satisfaction with the leadership change, noting: "It's been great having him in, and he's a legend at this club as it is."
The sentiment around the club was summarised with: "There are a lot of happy faces around the club to see him back."
