As the 2024/25 season approaches its climax with Liverpool firmly in control at the Premier League summit, the Reds are reportedly preparing for a transformative summer with high-profile arrivals expected.
Liverpool’s recruitment team has already begun identifying key areas for strengthening, with multiple sources confirming specific positions as priorities.
Left-back has emerged as a position requiring immediate attention, with Andy Robertson showing signs of decline at age 30 and backup option Kostas Tsimikas not widely considered a sufficient long-term deputy
The return of Champions League football next season is expected to boost Liverpool’s revenue beyond £700 million, with potential to approach £750 million should the club enjoy a deep European run.
This financial strength places Liverpool in an enviable position compared to several Premier League rivals who are navigating more precarious financial situations.
Arne Slot has already confirmed the club will be doing business, saying to the BBC back in January:
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”
“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
And now Romano has reported his latest Liverpool news.
Writing for GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano has reported that he is not mentioning Liverpool by accident – Milos Kerkez is a legitimate transfer target for the Anfield club:
“Mentioning Liverpool is not casual, because the Reds were interested in Kerkez already in 2024 when he was not available on the market, and they remain very keen on the Hungarian left-back for the summer of 2025,” the Italian began.
“Liverpool director Richard Hughes knows Bournemouth and Kerkez very well and those connections could be crucial to making the deal happen”
Romano added that Kerkez is one of three main names already on a summer transfer shortlist approved by Arne Slot:
“It’s not something guaranteed or agreed at this stage, it’s still early; but Liverpool want to bring in a new left-back in the summer as well as a centre-back and Kerkez is one of three main names on the shortlist already approved by Arne Slot.”
“Contacts are expected to follow and continue in the next months; Liverpool’s interest is genuine and concrete, as Kerkez is attracted by Champions League football for his future and there’s a chance to make the deal happen this summer.”
“Now we wait for the next weeks to understand when and how the contacts will continue.”
