Liverpool ditch Nike as Premier League leaders confirm huge new£300m kit deal

Liverpool have confirmed they will switch kit manufacturers in August as the Reds team up with German giants Adidas again.

The Reds have signed a multi-year deal - but The Mirror report it could be for the next five years and worth in excess of £300m.

It is believed to be in line with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City who are paid around £60m a year in deals with Adidas, Nike and Puma.

However, it isn't quite the record-breaking deal that Manchester United signed with Adidas - which was worth £90m-per-year, but it's understood to have deductions for failure to qualify for Champions League and other sporting success.

The Reds have spent the past five years with Nike kits, who replaced New Balance in 2020. Their previous deal with Nike was worth a minimum of £30m but with royalties, commissions and promotions from the likes of Liverpool shareholder LeBron James it was closer to £60m a season.

Liverpool did wear Adidas kits between 2006 and 2012 - with the German sportswear brand donning their kit as they shocked the league in the Champions League final.

And they will again make Liverpool kits from August 1 later this year.

Billy Hogan, chief executive officer, Liverpool Football Club, said: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family.

“We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time. adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on pitch performance.

“We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future”
