“Too early to leave” – Player told to stay at West Ham, wait longer for huge move

Mohammed Kudus had an impressive debut season with West Ham United since joining them from Ajax in August 2023.

The Ghana international managed 14 assists and six assists from 45 matches under David Moyes’ orders. The Hammers replaced the manager with Julen Lopetegui, who was shown the exit door in January.

Graham Potter is currently in charge at West Ham and Kudus hasn’t managed to replicate his last season form. He has three goals and two assists from 25 games so far.

Last summer, the 24-year-old changed agents and was linked with a move away from the English club. A move never materialised, and the rumours haven’t completely gone away.

Former Ghana defender John Paintsil, who previously represented West Ham, Fulham and Leicester City in England, has given advice to his compatriot. Speaking to Africa Foot, he encourages Kudus to continue with the Premier League club at least for another season.

Paintsil is of the belief staying at West Ham until the end of next season could benefit the forward and the club. He has urged him to only consider leaving the London club if there’s a tempting offer in the summer window.

“I think it’s too early for Kudus to leave West Ham. He’s one of the club’s key players and he’s highly regarded,” he said.

“Another season could see him earn an even bigger deal in the future. He’s an extremely talented player who can play in a number of positions. For Kudus and West Ham to get the most out of a potential move, he’d better have another great season. That way, he can join a big club, and West Ham will get a fair compensation.

“Unless an extraordinary offer comes along, he should stay. There’s no reason to rush a move. Plus, he seems happy at West Ham, so there’s no need to rush. He’s the real star of the team.”
